Sunday Service (2nd February, 2020)

TOPIC:    DISPLAY YOUR POWER O LORD
TEXT:       PSALM 68: 1- 4
Psalms 68:1-4 (NIV)
1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him.
2 As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.
3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.
4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds-- his name is the Lord-- and rejoice before him.
Psalms 68:28 (NIV)
28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before.
Psalms 68:28 (NLT)
28 Summon your might, O God. Display your power, O God, as you have in the past.
INTRODUCTION
One thing that is common to us all as Christians is the fact that we recognize the fact that our God is All- Powerful, All Good and All Glorious. In the light of these, we eagerly desire that He will display His power and His glory on us at all times.
Another thing that every Christian ought to know is that we have enemies; forces working night and day to thwart the plans and purposes of God on everything that gives us joy in life….- your life, your health, your family, your job etc. -   Remember, Satan and his demons and his agents hate us to hell. It is not about what you did to them, No, who you are is their problem. So, as we desire the display of the glory of God on our lives, we must remember this other group and be ready to fight for what is rightly ours in Christ. …. “Whatever is worth living for, is worth dying for; and if it worth dying for, it is definitely worth fighting for. Are you ready for this ‘fight’ today?
LESSON
God, our Father is the light of the world. (Jn 8:12) We, His children are the reflectors of that light to this dark world. We have no light of our own, but, like the Moon to the Sun, we only radiate God’s light.  The quality of the light we radiate to the world is consequent on our standing in Him and our stand for Him. – no obstruction and our cleanliness. Today, we want to talk about the other obstruction – the Enemies. Their major focus in life is to come between the Christian and his/her God.  See the illustration as evident in the book of Daniel Chapter 6. The Administrators and the Satraps knew they could never stop Daniel shinning unless they could come between him and his God. The same is true about the enemies today, Satan and his demons; their major desire is to hinder a person from radiating the glory of the Lord.
Note however that our bible says: -
“…resist the devil, and he will flee….(James 4:7)   In the OT, the devil was NOT subject to men, they could only appeal for God to arise to fight off the enemy…. (Ps. 68:1)
But today, Jesus had come and shed His blood and the authority has been given to us “to trample upon snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy….”  (Luke 10:19). So we use Ps. 68 to pray now.
The keys of the kingdom has been given unto us…and whatsoever we bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven….(Matt. 16:19)
Today, in the name that is above every other name,
Ø  We shall bind   - the devil and his demons out of our lives…..
Ø  We shall loose  - every chain we have been bound with…..
Ø  We shall prayerfully ask the Father -   …show us your strength, O God, as you have done before.(NIV)      “… Display your power, O       God, as you have in the past.(NLT)
-          The plagues on Egyptians did not get to the Israelites  = ask that the evils in the land will never come near you and family.
-          The Red Sea blocked the path of God’s children and exposed them to attacks for the armies of Egypt  =  everything that hinders others must make way for you on your path to your promised land.
-          The wall of Jericho was man-made and men shut it tightly against God’s people = pray that all such obstacles on your path to fulfillment fall down flat now in Jesus name.
-          Elisha was in his house while God was exposing to him the secret plans of the Aramians (2 Kings 6: 8-12) = Pray that the secrets of the enemy will not be hidden in and around you life.

CONCLUSION
Never you ever assume that you are too ‘little’ for the devil to notice or too ‘big’ for him to attack. Satan is always roaming around “looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8) – we shall not be devoured by the devil in Jesus name. therefore, be constantly on the alert and be prayerful as you resist the devil and destroy his plans in and around your lives.

PASTOR’S CORNER
God haters are almost always haters of His Children. Full of evil spirit, they persistently seek the downfall of the Children of God. However, when God chooses to manifest His power on a life, the haters are confounded and rendered powerless. Our prayer today is, Let God arise and let the enemies be scattered.
