TOPIC:  WHO DO YOU SAY YOU ARE
TEXT: 2 Timothy 4: 6-8

6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

INTRODUCTION
In the Lord Bible, Jesus asked His Disciples, who do the people say I am…and He later asked, Who do you say the Son of man is? ….. The question we are asking ourselves today is “Who do you say you are?” For we sometimes overate ourselves, some few times we underrate… Therefore, today, in this matter of Christianity, “Who do you say you are?”

LESSON
Towards the end of his life, Paul considered his life and his testimony about himself came out like this -
1.      He was a Fighter of the good fight.  (Vs. 7 “I have fought the good fight...”)
I wonder what kind of fight makes ‘the good fight’? we need remember that the Christian is a ‘Soldier’ and soldiers are called to fight....
-          Fighting his wife ...bad fight
-          Street fight.... bad fight
-          BUT a fight against the devil and his kingdom. a good fight.
·         Are you a fighter of the good fight?
2.      He was a Finisher of the race. (his own course) Vs. 7 “...finished the race...”
·         Paul was not just a ‘starter’ of a good thing, he was a ‘finisher’...
A research was conducted and it was discovered that out of every ten that begins a Christian race, only two finish well.... Paul finished well. A person like Demas may be carried off by the love of the world? A Judas may get deceived by silver coins? Paul remained steadfast.... PRAY THAT YOU WILL FINISH WELL.
KJV Puts it in a wonderful way “I have finished my course” NOTE ‘...my course...’   the one assigned to me, I did not ‘cross carpet’, I did not jump into another man’s lane... NO, I kept on my path to the very end. GREAT. Check now Sir/Ma, are you still on course?
3.      He was a Keeper of the faith. Vs. 7. “...I have kept the faith.”
That is to remain faithful to the very end. Though the devil threw arrows from one side, the demons put obstacles on the road and the world throws baits from another side...he remained faithful, he focused on the finish line and he made it there successfully

CONCLUSION
Paul face the reality of the moment (in Vs. 6) the fact that he was about to depart to be with the Lord with such peace because when he looked back in Vs. 7, all he could see was a life lived to the glory of God, and with that, he could confidently project to the future in Vs. 8.... Imagine if his yesterday (Vs7) had been lived on his own terms, his today (Vs.6) would have been gloomy and his tomorrow (Vs.8) would have been frightening.

Now, who do you say you are? THINK AGAIN, are you really what you claim to be? If you cannot find God in your “Today”, it might be you lived your “Yesterday” on your own terms, and you can definitely project that “Tomorrow” must be frightening. The good news is that you can change your story TODAY.
LET GOD TAKE-OVER YOUR LIFE FROM NOW....

PASTOR’S CORNER
The ending of any matter is the purpose for everything that precedes it. Without a strong ending, the value of a person becomes greatly diminished. Just as someone once said, ‘never envy a man, until you know his end’.  Our faithfulness therefore must be for a lifetime; and we must determine to finish well.
