Sunday Service (2nd December, 2018)

The message was delivered by the Church Pastor, Rev. Kayode Oke on the
Topic: This is the House of God.
Text: 1 Chronicles 22;1-4; 2 Timothy 2:20
2 Timothy 2:20 (NIV)
20 In a large house there are
articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for
noble purposes and some for ignoble.
1 Chronicles 22:1-4 (NIV)
1 Then David said, "The house of the Lord God is to be here, and also the altar of burnt offering for Israel."
2 So David gave orders to assemble the aliens living in Israel, and from among them he appointed stonecutters to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God.
3 He provided a large amount of iron to make nails for the doors of the gateways and for the fittings, and more bronze than could be weighed.
4 He also provided more cedar logs than could be counted, for the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought large numbers of them to David.

INTRODUCTION
In response to the topic, I think it likely that
someone would have thought ‘Yes we know ke….’
However, it is instructive that God has a message to His church today over such
a very basic issue
LESSON
The house of God is a large house, and the family
members are varied…..they come in different shades and colors….
-
From black to white and everything in between.
-
From tall to short……fat to thin…….Good to bad…. Because the house of God is a large house…and
Bible also helped us to know that 2 Tim. 2: 20 20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but
also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble.
In the building of this house of God in the Old
Testament, which is a picture of what is to come, we have ‘stone’ materials, we
have ‘wood’ materials and we even have ‘iron’ materials …don’t forget that at
the same time, there are articles of gold, of silver and of clay.
All these show that the house is made up of many
materials. The house only became a house because of the presence and the
efficient usage and placement of these varied materials.
As important as the stone are to the building, it took
power to blast them from the quarry but they don’t fit in directly, they must
be dressed. The wood needed to be carved even the gold and silver, as precious
as they are still needed the workings of skilled gold and silver smiths for
them to fit in. It has always been like that and New Spring BC is no exception.
LESSONS FOR US
1. THE HOUSE IS GOD’S. Let all never
forget that it does not belong to man. Any man.
2. THE HOUSE IS LARGE. Let no one
create a little empire for himself. The owner is big and His house is large
3. THERE ARE DIFFERENT ARTICLES IN IT.
4. ALL THE ARTICLES ARE VERY IMPORTANT
5. NO ARTICLE CAN EXIST SUCCESSULLY
WITHOUT THE OTHERS
CONCLUSION
We are the
articles God builds His house with today and the Church is the house of God and
people come in different forms and shapes…. The earthly Church is a work in
progress until the article fits perfectly into the heavenly church.
So, if here today
we have articles of gold and silver….glory to God
-
Remember you are still being worked upon….the gold
smiths are still working
-
Remember you have a purpose for being here
-
Remember that there are other articles of wood and
clay- don’t look down on them for they have a purpose……
