Sunday Service (02-09-2018)

God’s Word sent to us today was delivered to us by the Church Pastor, Rev. Kayode Oke. It was titled
Do you Really Believe
Text: John 14:10-11, 1 Corinthians 1:17-18
John 14:10-11 (NIV)
10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
1 Corinthians 1:17-18 (NIV)
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

INTRODUCTION
It always get to a point once a while when we should ask ourselves this question, Do I truly believe God?
LESSON
Do you believe in:-
A.    HIS WORDS (Jn. 14: 10)
Do you believe that the words of God are indeed just that – the words of the One and only God. Do you believe that His words are Yea and Amen (1 Cor. 1:20) The words of the almighty that cannot lie. Do you believe that these words are from the same source as the words that brought the earth to be?
-          I am with you to the end of age (Matt. 28:20)
-          I will never leave you nor forsake you (Josh. 1:5)
-          By His stripes you have been healed (Isa. 53:5)
-          Whatever you ask in my name I will do it (Jn. 14:14)
-          Those that wait on God will never lack any good thing (Ps 34:10)
-          Non shall be barren in the land.(Exo 23:26)
-          No weapon forged against you will prevail. – ‘…no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged” (Isa. 54: 17)

B.     HIS WORKS. (Jn. 14:11)
Do you believe that He is still in Charge of His world? Do you believe that He still governs the day and the night? Do you believe that life is still a gift from Him? Do you still see everything in His Hands
-          The safe journeys
-          The food you eat
-          The air we breath
-          The small and the BIG things.

C.    HIS CROSS (1 Cor. 17-18)
What does His Cross mean to you? Is it just a sign? A logo?
-          We come to the Cross by repentance
-          At the Cross, Jesus paid the price for my sin
-          The Cross is a physical demonstration of the greatest love
-          The Cross is a gift paid for by blood – the blood of Jesus.
-          The Cross is the POWER OF GOD unto salvation. For there the power of sin was crushed and Satan was totally and eternally defeated.
The big question now is, BUT, DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE?
If YES? Know that the cross places on us A GREAT DEMAND –and this IS THAT WE SHOW IT TO THE WORLD.
.

CONCLUSION
Again, the question,; Do you really believe? If yes, the next one is; What will you do with that? Your response to this is a great indicator of who you really are in Christ, for as stated in 1 Cor. 1:18  “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”.

PASTOR'S CORNER
It was once said that “Believe is better than truth.” This is saying that what a person believes is of greater importance to him/her than truth. If that be true, imagine now how much better, wiser, greater and stronger if the focus of that believe is the One who not only is the Truth, but also the Way and the Life. Ask yourself; Do you really believe God?
