TOPIC: A QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE
TEXT: DANIEL 6:1-3 (NKJV)
Daniel 6:3 (NIV)
3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
Daniel 6:3 (NKJV)
3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
Daniel 6:1-3 (NKJV)
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom;
2 and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss.
3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
INTRODUCTION
Today is a special day in this church as we give an Excellence Award to a distinguished youth for the first time. ….
Thank God because for 5 years, we had focused on families – Exemplary Family Award, a program instituted under God to recognize Christian families that had successfully lived together for not less than 30 years, not just to honor these ones but to also be an example/encouragement to those coming behind. Glory to God for the program really helped families among us. However, this year, we are being led to focus on our Youths. At a time when
-          Drug and substance abuse is the ‘in thing’
-          Exam malpractice is the order of the day
-          Many run after quick money by ‘betting’
-          Hard work is becoming ‘old school’
God is asking us to call out to our youths that an ‘excellent spirit’ will distinguish you (Dan. 6:3)
-          Get you noticed by ‘higher authority’ (Dan. 6:2)
-          You will ultimately be lifted up above others (Dan 6: 3)

CONCLUSION
As we begin this Award program, I pray God will use it to bless many of our Youths and refocus them to pursue excellence in life and by that become more relevant in life as they live to glorify God in Jesus name. Amen.
Let me round-off by appreciating the Committee that labored to get this program to this point and also let me appreciate God for the presence of one of our revered leaders in NBC, the Rev, Prof. Emiola Nihinlola.

PASTOR’S CORNER
Wrong thinking ultimately leads to wrong living. No wonder the Bible says “whatever is true…noble,… right, … pure,…lovely, … admirable… excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Phil. 4:8). Therefore, think excellent thoughts to live a praiseworthy life.

PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
1. Appreciate God for grace to be alive. Ask God to open your eyes to see the area He wants you to do more exploits for Him.
