Sunday Service (September 30th, 2018)

Thank God for our Prayer/Thanksgiving Service today, which marked the end of our 14-day fasting session. The Word was delivered to us today by the Church Pastor Rev. Kayode Oke on the Topic:

…BUT FOR THE SHOWERS WE PLEAD

TEXT: EZEKIEL 34: 25-31

²⁵ "'I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts so that they may live in the desert and sleep in the forests in safety.
²⁶ I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.
²⁷ The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the ground will yield its crops; the people will be secure in their land. They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.
²⁸ They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will make them afraid.
²⁹ I will provide for them a land renowned for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the scorn of the nations.
³⁰ Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Sovereign Lord.
³¹ You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord.'"

INTRODUCTION

That popular hymn (BH 264) says ‘mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead’ It is like the writer is saying, Yes, we recognize the grace that brought forth the ‘mercy drops’ but we know that from where the ‘mercy drops’ came from, there is indeed an inexhaustible supply and the owner of that ‘store’ is willing to open it to any of His children who dare to ask, so the writer of the hymn seem to say, ‘Thanks for the drops, but please open the floodgates Lord, I want it’.

Today, I want to plead with us all to pray like this hymn writer prayed; Lord we thank you for the various blessings we have received thus far but today, we plead, Father, please open

-          the floodgates of divine health,

-          the floodgates of gainful employments,

-          the flood gates of abundance of supplies,

-          the floodgate of promotion

-          the floodgates of favor  

LESSON

1.     THE INITIATIVE IS GOD’S.  (Vs 25-26)   NOTE THE FOLLOWING.     ²⁵ "'I will make ….
²⁶ I will bless them …. I will send….

REMEMBER The one who promised is the one that can never lie; the One whose word is Yea and Amen. He is the one that does not shift like shadows, He is not man to repent or change His mind.

2.     THE BLESSING IS TOTAL. (Vs, 27-29) In this package planned by God, the blessing is all encompassing. In it,–

-            it there is prosperity,( The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the ground will yield its crops),

-          there is security,(  the people will be secure in their land.),

-           there is deliverance (I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.) 

-          and there is divine provision. (²⁹ I will provide for them…)

3.     THE PURPOSE IS HIS GLORY. (Vs. 30-32) Imagine how far you go so that your children will be what you want them to be, how you spare no effort on them…God is saying something here that is like, ‘I will decorate them for all to know they are mine’

CONCLUSION

Like that Servant of God used to say, ‘If there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer’ Determine to pray

PRAYER POINTS

1.      WE CANNOT BUT THANK HIM FOR THE ‘MERCY DROPS’ WE HAVE RECEIVED. BLESS HIS NAME.

2.      If there is a man to pray…. ASK GOD TO CLOTHE YOU WITH A GAMENT OF PRAYER TODAY.

3.      ²⁵. 'I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts so that they may live in the desert and sleep in the forests in safety.

-          PRAY AGAINST ANYTHING WORKING CONTRARY TO YOUR PEACE….. ASK THAT GOD WILL RENDER POWERLESS ALL THE WILD BEASTS TERRORIZING YOUR LIFE AND THOSE OF YOUR FAMILY

-          PRAY THAT GOD WILL FLOOD YOUR LIFE WITH HIS PEACE.

4.      ²⁶ I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.  NOTE. SHOWERS.

WILL YOU CHOOSE TO DARE THE DEVIL AND BELIEVE GOD TODAY?

PASTOR’S CORNER

The almighty God, to whom we direct our prayers is the One “who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine….(Eph 3:20) So, why limit the limitless God, refuse to settle for the 'drops', believe Him for Showers of blessing.
