TOPIC: PRISCILLA
AND AQUILA: A MODEL FOR CHRISTIAN HOMES.
TEXT:
ACTS 18: 1 – 3, 24-26; ROMANS 16:3-5
CHALLENGE: Some fail in marriage, others
excel. Choose to emulate the winners.
INTRODUCTION
One beautiful
thing about the Bible is that it presents a variety of human activities, the
great, the good, the bad and the ugly, and all are stated because they are
“useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2
Tim. 3:16) On Sunday, we considered Ahab and Jezebel, a bad example in
marriage, but today we look at Priscilla and Aquila, a worthy model.
LESSON
Priscilla and Aquila, indeed a worthy model for
Christian marriages:-
1.
IN ONENESS. This is
a couple that never got a single mention separately. They were united on all
fronts so much so that the writers could not think of one without the other.
2.
IN INDUSTRY. Both
were tent makers. United even in matters concerning money. Are you?
3.
IN HOSPITALITY. For
these people, their home was a place of ministry; they housed Paul, brought
Apollos home and even had a church meeting in their house. To them, their house
was a house of God.
4.
IN MINISTRY. See 18:26.
Apollos was an orator and a zealous for the Lord. Note. This couple did not
argue with him but humbly listened to him, they found Apollos to speak
accurately but they endeavored to fill in the inadequacies in his message. So
they were both humble, loving and Godly
