As our month of family matters continued, the Lord spoke to us today through His servant, the under-shepherd, Rev. Kayode Oke.

Topic: Ahab and Jezebel: Combination Unwanted
Text: 1 Kings 16:26-33

The message was subdivided into 4;

1.      BAD ANCESTRY
Both Ahab and Jezebel came from an ungodly family as seen in scriptures.
1 Kings 16:25
But Omri (Ahab’s Father) wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.
1 Kings 16:37
… he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

2.      BAD MARRIAGE
Two unconverted people came together in marriage. Whenever you see such, know that the end usually is a disaster.
-          So let’s not get carried away by what carries others away

3.      BAD LIFE
The lives of Ahab and Jezebel after coming together was very bad.
-          Jezebel was regarded as about the most evil woman that ever lived, haven seen some terrible things she did in her time. Revelation 2:20 regarded the ‘evil woman’ as a Jezebel.
For example to Naboth (1 Kings 21:1-14)
Also to Elijah (1 Kings 19:1-3)
-          Ahab also lived a bad life. (1 Kings 16:30-34)
He lived worse than Jerobo’am who the Bible recorded to have built alters for Idols, and had more evil records than his fathers.

I Kings 16:30
And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.

“When sin begins to look trivial to you, watch out, destruction is on its way”

4.      BAD ENDING
-          Ahab died a bad death in war
1 Kings 22:34
And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

-          And so did Jezebel
2 Kings 9:29-37
(Vs 33) And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
CONCLUSION
“If you miss it at the point of marriage, it is difficult to make any meaning out of life and if any coming together  is against the Lord, it will end up in disaster.

PASTOR’S CORNER
“Marriage changes things. Your marriage will affect your life and prospects. It could ruin…(or) hasten your speed towards fulfilling your potentials” (Jerry Akinsola)
Since marriage is this important to life, shouldn't we rather  pray well and think deep in order to make right decisions concerning marriage.
