Sunday, 29th July 2018 (EXEMPLARY FAMILY AWARD SUNDAY)

We thank God for the grace to witness our 2018 Exemplary Family Award Sunday, where we awarded the exemplary family of Rev. Dr. and Mrs J.A. Ojo. A short charge was delivered to us by the Church Pastor, Rev. Kayode Oke, on the topic
SWEETER BY THE YEAR
Text: John 2:1-10
-          Our marriages can grow better and sweeter as we grow older in it.

SOME LESSONS FOR MARRIAGES FROM THE PASSAGE
1.      Learn to be friendly to your spouse
-          Jesus exhibited friendship. That was the reason He attended the wedding ceremony.
2.      Be Concerned
-          Mary, Jesus’ mother exhibited concern for the couple when the wine finished.
3.      Be Prayerful
-          Learn to carry your burdens to the Lord in prayer, just as Mary did unto Jesus when the wine finished.
4.      Don’t be Overbearing
-          Mary wasn’t overbearing to her son, not piling too much pressure on Him to do what had to be done. So it should be in our marriages, lets not stress our spouses too much, instead let God be God in our lives.
5.      Be Trusting
-          Mary trusted Jesus, to do whatevery He wants to do.
6.      Be Trustworthy
-          As you give your trust out, you also should work to earn the trust of your spouse.
7.      Learn to be with Jesus
-          The couple didn’t ‘leave Jesus behind’ in their wedding, so it should be in our marriages, Christ should be a part of it.
8.      Be Obedient to Christ
-          A lesson from the servants, they did whatever the master asked them to do. We must learn to obey the Lord, always.

PASTOR'S CORNER
The grace of life is indeed a thing worthy of celebration. If in addition to that, the life is meaningful and impactful so much that it is singled out as exemplary, that is GREAT GRACE and deserves a double celebration. As we celebrate an exemplary couple today, consider now, can your own home be celebrated?

Prayer Focus for the Week
Pray that the month of August 2018 be a month of God's glory in your life and in the nation Nigeria.

LESSONS FROM OUR 2018 EXEMPLARY FAMILY – Rev. Dr. and Mrs J.A. Ojo.

Rev. Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Ojo

·         SOME KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
-          Understanding: 1 Peter 3:7 encouraged me to dwel with their wives in understanding.
-          Compromise; Learn to give up on some things in marriage.
-          Determination; Be determined and resolved within yourself that you will make your marriage work.
-          Discernment: We should be able to discern when things are right and when they are not in order to know how to act.
-          Overlooking Faults: The faults of a person is not the totality of the person but a part, so don’t use that part to sum up the person.
-          Tolerance.

·         PIECES OF ADVICE TO THE UN-MARRIED
1.      Let love be the primary reason for your relationship and not compassion.
2.      Know the Health status of your partner to know how compatible you are in that wise, so as to prevent future problems.
3.      The salvation experience of your partner should be known to you.
