Family Revival Session 3 (16-07-2018)



God continued to speak to us at this year’s Family Retreat through His servant Rev. Dr. Jerry Akinsola. Today’s teaching was on;

MANIFESTING GOD’S GLORY IN YOUR HOME: SEXUAL PURITY
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

To overcome sexual challenges, you need to;
1. Understand how God sees sexual offenders
2. Recognise how people fall
3. Prevent sexual sin
4. Overcome sexual pervasions

  • HOW GOD SEES SUCH A PERSON
Proverbs 6:32-33
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

- A Fool
- A Self Destroyer
- Harvester of Shame

  • STEPS TO SEXUAL SINS
Proverbs 7:24-27
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

1. ATTRACTION (Sights)
Genesis 39:7
- What you see, watch or read.
2. ATTENTION (Speech)
- Watch out when people use suggestive words.
- Watch out when desires become passion [focus] and forgetting who you are (Genesis 39:10)
3. ATTUNEMENT (Sharing)
- Interactions, ideas, time and resources.
4. ATTACHMENT (Space)
You begin to desire secret places, physical touch.

  • WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PERSON MISUSES SEX?
1. Momentary pleasure
2. Loss of honour
3. Loss of Power
4. Haunting Shadows

  • WHAT CAN I DO TO PREVENT DESTROYING MY LIFE AND FAMILY THROUGH SEXUAL IMMORTALITY
1. See sexual sin as God sees it
- Wickedness (Genesis 39:9)
2. Eliminate relationships and activities that make you compromise
(Genesis 39:10, 12)
3. Guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23)
- Watch what your mind feeds on (Philippians 4:8)
4. Share your concern with your Accountability partner
- Concealment kills
5. Be prayerful and 'Scripturefull'
(Psalm 119:9, 11)
6. Be intimate with your spouse
7. Walk in the Spirit
- Listen to warnings, and obey God

  • WHAT CAN I DO TO RECOVER FROM SEXUAL SIN
Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

1. ACKNOWLEDGE
- Don't give any excuse
2. RENOUNCE
3. DISRUPT COMMUNICATION
4. DISCLOSE
5. BE SPIRIT FILLED
6. BE ACCOUNTABLE

CONCLUSION
Remember that sexual immorality is very costly, it could cost you your career, investment, health and peace.
Also remember that sexual immorality will affect others (Spouse and children)
- Sexual Immorality Reduces you
- It amounts to disobeying God, it is great Wickedness and sin.
